Rings rings rings

Lately, I have been infatuated with all things rings!!!  Ever since I received the coveted engagement ring from my oh so handsom fiance', I have been looking up all sorts of rings.  Apparently, my favorite is that of skulls and snakes.

I especially love the A. McQueen clutch...it combines both of my favorite things...jewelry and purses!

The last one is my engagement ring...its rose gold!!

Enjoy!

Love F&F

AN ODE TO MJ!!!

Check out today's post, which is dedicated to my first music memory, my first crush, my first concert, my first cassette tape...the one and only Michael Jackson!

It has been 3 years since his untimely death, and I still tear up when I listen to his music.

He is timeless!

HOW FAR HAVE WE COME...REALLY???!!!

About 4 years ago or so, one of my co-workers (an older woman) told me how she dreamed of being an architect. However, the program of her choice ( at the time) only allowed one woman, and she wasnt it. When she told me this, it only reassured my decision in pursuing architecture as a profession.
A few years back, Mattel release Architect Barbie. I was so excited, especially since my favorite thing about playing Barbies was to maniulate my barbie fold and fun house, barbie mobile home, barbie town house, etc. and make even larger, more interesting homes for my barbie to dwell.
Once the doll was released, i realized, the gender gap had not closed as much as i thought.
Look at her!!! Nothing about this doll relates to me or my profession. I’m not saying she should be decked out in all black from head to toe and drive a mini cooper, but at least she could represent today’s working woman.
As an african american woman, I am a double minority in the field of design, and in 2012, i would think gender roles would have blurred a little more.
I guess we still have some ways to go!!

Site Highlight!!!

I want to take the time to celebrate some of the sites that keep me and others informed of the latest happenings in architecture.  Today, I want to put the spot light on architizer.com!  Everyday, I visit this site to educate myself on various architecture firms and get inspired.

Today, they posted Houseboat on the Eilbek Canal, designed by Sprenger von der Lippe.  I was in immediate awe.  I have always been drawn to architecture that merges natural design and man's.  Check it out!!!

I must say, I have never seen a house boat like this!  It blends perfectly with the landscape.  I wonder if it moves :)

The large floor to ceiling windows and the exterior walkway connecting spaces constantly connects the user with nature at all times.
