Oscar 2013 Fashion Awards!

No matter who wins an Oscar...the gown is what people will continue to talk about for days, weeks, even months afterwards.  I typically tune in to the red carpet then watch the last 30 minutes to see who won the top awards. Really, the only award I care about is...you got it...
BEST DRESS!
Here are the nominees...

Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton is a contender in my book!
The color is stunning and the fit is amazing.  Although this is sort of her "go to" look...who cares! You know what they say "If it aint broke..."

Here is our favorite princess...Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta.
The detail on this dress is mind blowing.  I love the pale color although, i'm not sure how I feel about it against her skin.

Maria Menounos in Romona Keveza
Great color...I love a hot pink dress..but this hair gives me the prom...even worse, homecoming!  I wish her hair was up with a stunning pair of drop earrings.  That way, the dress would pop...now its just fighting with her hair.

Jessica Chastain Armani
I love love love this dress.  The hue compliments her skin tone.  I love how her accessories are simple and understated, and her hair is simple gorgeous.  Maria...take a cue from Jessica.

Quvenzhane Wallis in Armani Junior
This is what young hollywood should look like.  She is a little girl and dresses the part!  I love her  bag...its the perfect touch of youth and innocence.  Let's be real, is she really going to have some sort of crystal clutch?

Octavia Spence in Tadashi Shoji
I love this look for her.  The color is gorgeous. It compliments her curves.  I have always felt...don't drape over your body...the more fabric the heavier you look.  This way, we see her waist!  I especially love the top of this...age appropriate but not matronly.

Kelly Rowland in Donna Karen.
OK...so THIS IS MY VOTE FOR BEST DRESS!
Yet again, Kelly kills the red carpet in a stunning gown. Her arms, fab...the fit, fab.  This is perfect!  Bravo!

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
I love Kerry in everything she does...however, I dont love her in this.  Her makeup is flawless, and I like the ease of her hair...I'm just not 100% sure on this dress.  Something about it is off to me...I can't put my finger on it.  Maybe the fit of the top, when the skirt hits at the waist, the train, the shoes...something is not quite right.

Jennifer Lawrence Dior Couture
Hollywood's "It" girl has hit the nail on the head!  This dress is jaw dropping.  She is know for keeping her styling very simple, however, I wish she would've stepped it up just a little.  This dress is carrying so much weight, I wish she did a little more to balance the look.

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Maybille
I like the concept of this dress, but overall...not so much.  This is when editing becomes so important.  This looks like two different ideas in one dress.  The detail at the neckline is pretty but that should have been the point of this dress.  You look down and see this ombre of grey and get confused.  What am I suppose to be looking at?  I would have liked to see more of the neckline at the bottom, as a hidden detail underneath the dress.

Who are on your list of hit or miss?

Big Red Door

Guess what would go great with all of those black doors?

A Red Entry Door!

Black is Always Back...cont

After reading that article in Dwell, it reminded me that I was once on a mission to paint all of my interior doors in my house black!

Well, that mission is back on...well, eventually.

There is nothing more chic than a black door.  It is a great way to update your home that doesn't cost a lot and will completely revitalize it's look.  The only thing you have to look out for is the sheen.  I personally prefer a matte or eggshell finish...nothing too glossy.  Especially if you have really beat up doors...you will only highlight the dings.

Although it may seem like a fad...black never gets old.  And remember...its only paint!

Suit & Tie Ish...

I know I am not alone when I say..."Finally JT!"

Well, this song has inspired me...well, something else inspired me to blog and this song gave me something to blog about.

Now more than ever, women are taking over...and rightfully so! So why not express that power in a power suit!  Just because you mean business doesn't mean you don't mean fashion!

We are still women, and our clothes should reflect that...even if we aren't showing our gorgeous stems.

So ladies...take note...if you want to be noticed as the power house you are...run and get a tailored suit.  I assure you...you will fill more like a woman than you ever have!
